Faux Succulent Dachshund Planter

I don't know about you guys but dachshunds & succulents are kind of my thing. Faux succulents that is. I kind of have a problem with killing any live plants, so I've found it easier to buy fake ones. As for dachshunds, I'll always be in love with them. That might be because I've grown up with them & my husband & I have one of our own named Slinky. If you follow me on Instagram, then I'm sure you've seen a few pictures of him here & there.

I've had this dachshund dog dish for years now. My family use to have a dachshund named Digger & lets just say he was adorable. He sadly left us a few years ago & I got the honor of getting his dog dish. I had no clue what to do with it & our dachshund already had dishes of his own.

The dog dish had become rusted over time & sat in the garage. Finally an idea popped into my head & I instantly went to Hobby Lobby & got what I needed to bring this dog dish back to its former glory.

I used a sand block & sanded it down, it was starting to get in pretty bad shape. I used Rustoleums satin black & spray painted the dish. It already looked a thousand times better than before.

I had purchased some faux succulents at Hobby Lobby for another project {see here} & went back to buy different ones. You guys! They had a lot of their succulents on sale & I scored some of them for as low as $0.68! Let's just say I bought a lot of them because you can never have enough succulents.

I bought white rocks at Walmart & poured them into the dishes & added the succulents. Having the white rocks make the succulents pop. I'm so happy with the way this turned out & I can honestly say it's my favorite thing & probably always will be. Instead of letting this wonderful dachshund dog dish sit & rust away like it was doing, I brought it back to life. What do you think of it? Do you own dachshunds or have you? I'd love to know! As always, thanks for stopping by!
